  • Environmental enhancement – to enhance and protect water quality, native flora and fauna, biodiversity and ecology associated with Te Awa Tupua;
  • Research & monitoring – to gain further understanding of the environmental, cultural and spiritual health and wellbeing of Te Awa Tupua; and the impacts of various activities on Te Awa Tupua and the relationship between Whanganui Iwi and Te Awa Tupua;
  • Cultural and spiritual enhancement – to strengthen, promote and enhance Whanganui Iwi cultural and spiritual knowledge, practices and connections in respect of Te Awa Tupua.
