Marae Capacity Fund Applications

TE MANA O TE AWA ARE OFFERING A MARAE GRANT FOR UP TO THE AMOUNT OF $5,000.00. THIS WILL BE AWARDED TO WHANGANUI IWI MARAE WHO WISH TO:

  1. a)  Use as a cash contribution with other funders towards a larger project the marae are leading (i.e. Lotteries or Crown Grants Applications);

  2. b)  Complete a concise project to support the infrastructure of your marae (i.e fix something);

  3. c)  A collaborative initiative with other Marae (i.e enter into a strategic discussion about insurance).

TO APPLY FOR THIS FUND YOU NEED TO:

  • Provide evidence that the application is supported by the Marae Trustees, e.g. minutes from a marae meeting and a letter signed by the Chairperson, Treasurer and what the marae are seeking to do (option a, b, or c), and how you will go about it;

  • Outline the budget based off real costs, and provide quote(s) no older than six (6) months where required;

  • Outline what the marae will contribute to the project if applicable;

  • Provide a bank slip that verifies the marae trusts bank details;

  • Advise the legal status of your marae (e.g. Maori land trusts, Charitable trust board, Incorporated society, marae trust).

It means that you get sent pānui and updates on kaupapa related to the Whanganui River and Te Awa Tupua, the people and the river from the Mountains to the Sea. You can also apply for the different grants that are advertised on our website and facebook page.
