Te Mana o Te Awa Tertiary Scholarship Applications

The aim of the Te Mana o Te Awa Tertiary Scholarships is to grow the collective expertise of Whanganui Iwi to contribute to and enhance the health and wellbeing of Te Awa Tupua and Whanganui Iwi.

Eligibility:

In addition to being descendants of Whanganui Iwi, applicants for this Scholarship are eligible if they are pursuing a recognised tertiary qualification in one or more of the following priority areas:

  • Environmental Sciences
  • Natural Resources
  • Environmental Law
  • Planning
  • Accounting
  • Business Management and Administration

Where scholarships are undersubscribed consideration may be given to applications outside of these priority areas that meet the criteria of the scholarship.

Criteria: applicant must outline:

  • Ability to demonstrate the applicant is an outstanding student and/or future leader.
  • Ability to demonstrate the applicant is committed to making a significant contribution to the health and well- being of Te Awa Tupua and Whanganui iwi.
  • Ability to demonstrate how the qualification and/or research will enable the applicant to contribute to the health and well-being of Te Awa Tupua and Whanganui iwi in the future.
  • Ability to describe the impact a Te Mana o Te Awa Tertiary Scholarship would have for the applicant, should the application be successful.
  • Verified copies of all requested information must be included.

Value: 

  • Undergraduate scholarships are worth up to $3,000
  • Postgraduate scholarships are worth up to $10,000

Applications for the Te Mana o Te Awa Tertiary Scholarships close annually on the 1st of April at 5pm.

The 2020 Te Mana o Te Awa Tertiary Scholarship round has been extended and will now close on the 1st of October 2020 at 5pm.
